The leaves are conspicuously marbled in green and white and in themselves produce a very attractive plant. Add to this vivid multicolored blooms, flowering above the foliage, and an unforgettable sight is produced. Flowers summer to frost. Height 20cm (8in).

| Sowing depth: | 20mm (¾in) |
Sow where they are to flower in well cultivated soil in a sunny open site. Sow in rows 30cm (12in) apart and thin out to 15cm (6in) between plants.
For earlier flowering they can be sown in early spring at a temperature of 13-16C (55-60F) and transplanted into 7.5cm (3in) pots.
If sown indoors, gradually acclimatize to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost. They flower most freely in poor dryish soils and full sun.
