Papaver nudicale "Meadow Pastels" A wonderful, wide ranging mixture of up to ten different colours in shades of yellow, orange, pink, rose, white, cream and some stunning bicolours. Plants produce an abundance of large flowers on strong, sturdy stems, making this a worthy garden plant and cut flower. Flowers summer. Height 60-70cm (24-28in.)
| Sowing time: | Outdoors in early spring or late fall; zones 8-10 sow late fall only |
|---|---|
| Sowing depth: | 6mm (žin) deep in drills 25cm (10in) apart. |
Sow outdoors in a well prepared seed bed. Sow the seeds very thinly and barely cover. Keep the soil damp until germination takes place and thin out the seedlings if crowded when large enough to handle.
They can also be sown indoors from January to April, early sowings will often flower the same season. Germination takes 10-30 days at 13C (55F).
Transplant 30-45cm (12-18in) apart into flowering site in the autumn for flowering the following year.
They prefer full sun and welt drained soil, but will grow well in most soils. Prick out into pots as they resent any root disturbance.
