Papaver paeoniflorum Pink Paeony |
A kaleidoscopic mixture of large, paeony flowered poppies in a range of fruity colours including blackberry, strawberry-ripple, redcurrant, raspberry and whitecurrant. Easy to grow in the border and guaranteed to give a cheery display, self-seeding themselves for the following year. Flowers summer. Height 60-90cm (24-36in).
| Sowing time: | Early spring as soon as soil is workable to mid spring or early fall in mild winter areas |
|---|---|
| Sowing depth: | 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart. |
Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Rake the soil to a fine tilth and sow.
A sowing can also be made in late August/September for overwintering, when they will flower in late spring/early summer.
Thin out the young plants to 30cm (12in) apart when the seedlings are large enough to handle.
Prefers a well drained soil and full sun but will grow in most sites and soils. Remove the seed pods as they form unless you wish them to self seed.
