Early ripening and prolific cropping gherkin producing short, firm fleshed, spiny skinned fruits. Ideal whole or sliced for pickling.

For early crops sow under protection in pots of compost, ¾ inches deep, in March to April. Plant outdoors in late May or when frost risk has passed, 20 inches apart each way. Seed can be sown direct in the open ground from May to June by placing 2 seeds per station, ¾ inches deep, and 32 inches apart. Keep soil moist.Thin to strongest seedling.
Protection with polythene or fleece may be necessary during cold weather.
Add slices of pickled fruit to salads, antipasti, cold meat and cheese platters.
