Sow in a good seed sowing mix just covering the seed with sowing mix or vermiculite. Make sure the mix is moist but not wet and seal in a plastic bag until after germination which usually takes 25-35 days in a propagator at 18-20C (65-70F).
Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. They are almost 100% variegated and the variegated seedlings are a greeny gold color. The plain leafed seedlings will also make excellent border plants.
Grow on cool and in good light. Harden off and plant out 30cm (12in) apart into moist but well drained soil in sun or part shade, after last frost but at least 8 weeks before first fall frost. A position in full sun will produce the best variegation.
Harmful if eaten.
