Possibly the most beautiful Aquilegia of all. With glorious light to deep blue flowers 2-3in across sometimes fetching bi-colored with white. An excellent border perennial, grand for cutting, in bloom for several weeks and will grow in sun or light shade. Flowers late spring/early summer. Height 30-60cm (12-14in).

Sow on the surface of a free draining seed sowing mix. Germination can take from 1 -3 months at 15-21C (60-70F), to speed this up seal in a plastic bag after sowing and leave in a refrigerator for 3 weeks then place in warmth (15-21 C). Inspect regularly and remove if any start to germinate in the fridge. Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Harden off and plant out 12in apart in moist well drained soil, sun or part shade.
