Sow on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed sowing mix in pots or trays. Lightly cover the seed with a sprinkle of fine grade vermiculite or sowing mix. Put seed tray in a baggie to retain moisture and place in the refrgerator, not freezer, for 3-6 weeks. Remove seed tray and place at a temperature of between 18-21C (65-70F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Germination will usually take 30-60 days after moving to the warmer temperature. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.
Gradually acclimatize plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost 30cm (12in) apart.
For best results, provide a well-drained soil in full sun.
