Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed sowing mix in pots or trays. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a constant temperature of around 24-27C (75-80F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the sowing mix moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 15-60 days.
Gradually acclimatize plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 15-20cm (6-8in) apart, or plant into containers.
For best results, provide a rich, light, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade.
