Coreopsis tinctoria Mahogany Midget |
A breeding breakthrough, a true first year flowering perennial Coreopsis, ideal for planting in containers, window boxes or towards the front of borders. Naturally dwarf and compact ball-shaped plants are smothered in double golden yellow blooms all summer.
| Sowing time: | February to March. |

| Sowing depth: | Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Lightly cover seed with a sprinkling of compos |
Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a temperature of between 20-25C (68-77F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 21-30 days. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.
Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm (9-12in) apart, or transplant into containers.
For best results, provide any ordinary, well-drained soil in full sun.
