A tasty winter salad vegetable which can even be picked with snow on the ground. The succulent leaves are a staple ingredient for winter salads.

| Sowing depth: | 12mm (½in) deep and 15cm (6in) apart. |
Sow in a sunny position and well drained soil which is in good heart. Sow in drills. Water the young plants during dry spells.
Thin out when large enough to handle to 10cm (4in) apart.
To harvest first pull up every other plant and then pick a few of the outer leaves from the remaining plants.
