Sow at 16-21C (60-70F) on the surface of a good seed compost and gently firm down. Germination usually takes 20-25 days.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out, after all risk of frost, 38cm (15in) apart in a sunny spot on light well drained soil.
