T&M are privileged to offer the results of a rigorous and exciting 11 year breeding program by a world specialist. The 'New Zealand Hybrids' are a great improvement on the now discontinued Nobleman series. They have been specifically bred for exceptional perennial performance, and are outstanding in borders. The strong flower spikes with maximum, evenly spaced florets make them a great cut flower. Disease resistance is also advanced, offering protection against both powdery mildew and black spot. Add to this the impressive flower form and colour and you have the highest quality Delphiniums ever to be available from seed.
TM's exclusive mixture, known as 'New Zealand F1 Hybrids' offers a sumptuous range of bright blues, soft pinks and the purest whites. Beauty has never before been so freely available from seed.
| Sowing time: | September to April. |
|---|
Sow in pots or trays of moist seed compost. Seed will require a period of pre-chilling to aid germination. Cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. After sowing, seal the container in a polythene bag and place on the bottom shelf of a fridge for 3 weeks. Check regularly to monitor germination. Then, move to an optimum temperature of about 15C (59F), keeping the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged.
When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.
Place in a cool position to overwinter before planting out the following spring. Provide a rich, well-drained soil in full sun with protection from wind, spacing plants by 60cm (2ft).
Harmful if eaten.
