Description

A superb border plant with silver- green lanceolate foliage and many spikes of claret-red, almost black florets - a highly unusual color in perennials. May also be used in containers or as a cut flower.

Sowing Instructions

Sowing time:February to July.

Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 55-60F (13-15C). Surface sow using peat/sand mix seed compost. Germination usually takes 1-4 months.

Growing Instructions

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions before planting out 45cm (18in) apart in full sun or part shade.

Aftercare Instructions

Prefers a moist, well drained soil.
