Soak the seeds overnight in cold water before sowing. Sow in pots or boxes of good seed compost. Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 18-21 days at 15-21C (60-70F).
They can also be sown outdoors in spring in a reserve border and transplanted carefully in the autumn.
Transplant when large enough to handle into ordinary 7.5cm (3in) pots. Later plant out 30cm (12in) apart into a rich well drained soil in sun or part shade.
Harmful if eaten.
