Sow in good seed sowing compost just covering the seed with compost or vermiculite. After sowing, seal the seed container inside a polythene bag, place in a propagator and don't exclude light which is beneficial to germination. The seedlings usually emerge in 21-60 days at 20C (70F).
When large enough to handle transplant them to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow cool. When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days and then plant out 30cm (12in) apart in a sheltered sunny site and a rich, well drained soil.
