Whether in the border, cottage garden or at the back/center of a summer bedding display, Versailles Tetra will not disappoint you. The exquisite slate-pink, 10cm (4in) flowers have a deep red zone towards the center with a bright yellow eye. They flower over a long period and may be used as bright, cut flowers for the house. An excellent variety. Flowers summer. Height 91cm (36in)
| Sowing time: | Indoors 4-6 weeks before last spring frost or outdoors after last frost |
|---|---|
| Sowing depth: | 3mm (1/8in) |
Sow at 21-24C (70-75F) in a good seed sowing mix. The seed can also be sown outdoors where it is to flower in mid spring, after last frost. Germination takes 5-10 days.
Seed can also be sown outdoors in mid spring where it is to flower once the soil has warmed up.
When large enough to handle transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When about 5cm (2in) tall pinch out the growing point to make them bushy. Later, gradually acclimatize to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12m) apart in full sun and well drained soil.
Prefers a sunny position in light, well-drained soil.
