A bushy, hardy plant with gloriously fragrant foliage, each flower color - blue, yellow, red, pink and white - having a separate fragrance from peppermint to spearmint and one distinctly aniseed or liquorice. Lovely with the softer color schemes and particularly nice with Japanese Anemones. Also useful for cutting. Flowers in summer. Height 50-100cm (20-40in).

Sow in a good free draining seed compost. Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14 - 30 days at 13-16C (55-60F).
Transplant when large enough to handle into boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on cool. Later plant out 23-30cm (9-12in) apart into ordinary well drained garden soil in full sun.
