During summer, the exotic ferny foliage of Albizia becomes host to racemes of pink, flushed, yellow-green, silk tassels. A rapid grower which will flower with ease in just a few years from sowing. Plants are deciduous and surprisingly hardy in most regions. It has never been so easy to have something so impressive in your garden! Plant outdoor in a sheltered position. Prefers a rich, well drained soil in full sun. Approx. 30-90 days to germination.
Soak seed in warm water for 2 hours before sowing. You may also find it useful to file a tiny notch in one side of the seed prior to this. Germinate at 68-86F on the surface of a good, free draining, damp seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite and place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 1-3 months. Do not exclude light at any stage as this is beneficial to germination.
Transplant when large enough to handle into 3in pots of good quality compost and grow on in cool, well lit conditions over the winter period, ensuring the temperature does not fall below 40F.
Outdoor plants need pruning only to keep neat & tidy and within their bounds.
Please note that due to the nature of our exotic range of seeds, some varieties are more challenging than other less exotic varieties. However we wish you every success and hope you agree they are definitely worth the effort.
