Sow mid April in pots indoors, plant out late May, sow early May to July (outdoors). Sow 4-5cm (1½ to 2 in.) deep allowing 20cm (8in) between plants and 45cm (18in) between rows.
Germination and establishment is poor in cold wet soils. Use cloches or raise plants indoors. Flowers are self pollinating (no insects required). Pick regularly whilst young to give highest yields and extend the season. Cook/steam pods whole.
Good for any fertile soil in an open, sunny site.
Please note that beans must be cooked before eating to avoid discomfort.
A gourmet filet type, best lightly steamed.
